Capela

  No centro do Palácio, a Capela, perfeitamente proporcional ao edifício, une na mais fiel linha o arquiteto barroco aos primórdios da arquitetura romana… Na verdade, o Palácio Ludovice tem as proporções definidas pelo Homem Vitruviano, que Leonardo DaVinci imortalizou: "Para que qualquer edifício seja belo", escrevera Vitrúvio, "deve ter simetria e proporções perfeitas, como as encontradas na natureza. E como o objeto mais perfeito da natureza é o homem, um edifício perfeito deve ter as proporções do corpo humano”.

  Olhando para cima, o medalhão da abóboda marca o centro desta pequena capela de planta retangular. Nele, inscrito um triângulo equilátero, com todos os lados iguais na perfeita dimensão simétrica piramidal – o Espírito Santo, onde se lê em hebraico Jeová, o Grande Arquiteto do Universo, símbolo maior dos quatro elementos sagrados (ar, água, terra e fogo). A capela tem quatro colunas em mármore rosa polido, o mesmo número dos elementos sagrados.

  Detenhamo-nos agora no chão, este pavimento que tem um padrão igual àquele que reveste a Biblioteca de Mafra – no desenho e nas cores (policromia). Nele, exatamente por baixo do medalhão da abóboda, o monograma de João Federico Ludovice, com as suas iniciais – JFL – duplicadas em simetria inversa. Porquê duplicadas? Porque cada trio de letras representa o Ludovice matéria (Homem) e o Ludovice espírito (Alma).

  Mas a poesia mais bonita de todo este conjunto, a mensagem mais maravilhosa é a ligação que de sua mão conecta Ludovice com o Todo – o arquiteto da terra exatamente por baixo do arquiteto do Universo.

  Por cima do pórtico da esquerda, estando virado para o altar, a Estrela de 16 pontas que indica o lugar de Belém, local de nascimento de Jesus, encerrando, num discurso visual ímpar, o grandioso ciclo de vida, morte e além matéria de um Homem cuja obra perdura até aos nossos dias – proporcionalidade, simetria, harmonia e equilíbrio.
